![]() Red Raspberry plants need thinning about every three years, leaving approx. 4 canes for every square foot. They make an excellent edible landscape border! This variety- "Killarney" should be planted approx. 1 foot apart and pruned in the fall or winter. This variety we grow and sell are delicious and prolific and bear large fruit for about 3 weeks! The berries of these plants are available at our local farmers' markets in season and sell quickly. They also can be frozen for later use in your favorite pancake recipe or pie. |
A HARDY AND DELICIOUS FRUIT Red raspberries are perennial rooted plants, but the canes are biennial. They have strait canes that grow for one year and then produce flowers and fruits during the summer of their second year, primarily in early July. The second year canes die after harvest, and should be pruned out. They grow best in deep, sandy-loam soils with plenty of organic matter but may be grown in any good garden soil provided it is well drained. A leaf mulch works well here at our farm. We enjoy eating the delicious fruits fresh off the canes when working out in the garden! Cultivated variety-not wild. Availability: On hold Plants (8 " and taller plants or canes) are available in late fall and April-May. Please inquire about USA mainland priority mail shipment of bare rooted plants to your home address. Planting Zone 5 (3-7 OK) |
